Pre-Wedding Gynecology Check in Hyderabad
A pre-wedding gynecology visit is a health check for periods, infection, vaccination, and pregnancy planning. It is not a virginity test, and Samanwi Clinics does not offer one. Dr. Swathi Srirangam in Saroornagar uses the visit to treat problems that are easier to settle before the wedding month, such as irregular cycles, pain, discharge, or questions about contraception.
What is the visit for?
November and December are busy wedding months in Hyderabad. The useful medical visit is private and specific: your cycles, pain, discharge, rubella and cervical-screening status, folic acid if you may conceive soon, and a contraception plan if you do not want a pregnancy immediately. A two-finger test or a comment on the hymen does not answer any of those questions.
If families are pressing for a “certificate,” the honest medical reply is that no genital exam can prove sexual history. You can book the health visit without that request.
Which problems are worth settling before the wedding?
Women often use this appointment for:
- Cycles that are unpredictable, very heavy, or very painful
- Itching, unusual discharge, or burning urine
- PCOS, thyroid disease, or acne and hair growth that have never been assessed
- A contraception method that fits the first months of marriage
- Vaccines and folic acid if a pregnancy is planned within a year
How does this connect to later fertility care?
Most couples do not need fertility treatment before marriage. They do benefit from knowing whether cycles are ovulatory. Irregular periods are discussed on the menstrual disorders page and, when pregnancy is the goal, on infertility evaluation. A partner with urinary or sexual symptoms can see Dr. Aman Chandra Deshpande separately. Neither conversation belongs in a family group.
Routine screening that is due, including a cervical screening discussion, is part of routine gynecological examinations.

Common questions
Will the doctor do a virginity test?
No. Samanwi Clinics does not do virginity tests. They are not a medical diagnosis and they are not part of a pre-wedding health check.
Do I need this visit if my periods are regular?
It is still a reasonable time to ask about vaccines, folic acid, contraception, and any discharge or pain you have been ignoring. Regular cycles alone do not cover those points.
Can I come without a family member?
Yes. The consultation is confidential. You can attend alone.
What if we want to delay pregnancy?
Say that at the start. Contraception can be matched to your health and to how soon you might want a pregnancy later.
